Hey, readers and writers!
There’s a new release from Sara Ney, and it’s not from the How to Date a Douchebag Series! She’s come out with the first novel in a new series called Jock Hard. There’s a novella titled Switch Hitter which was the beginning of this series (technically), but this is the first full-length novel to be added. I was so excited to see where she’d go in her new series as she’s evolved so much as a writer since her YA years!
Jock Row (Jock Hard) (Volume 1) by Sara Ney
Synopsis:
Scarlett can sometimes be a buzzkill, especially when her friends are trying to hook up with stupid, jerky jocks. Instead of being celebrated for calling them out, she’s ushered out of the party by the captain of the baseball team, Rowdy. He’s huge and good-looking, easily tricking her out into the cold where she’s forced to stay while her friends continue to party inside. It’s a jerk move, but Scarlett can’t stop herself from finding him slightly funny, especially as she returns next Friday to sit out front with him. And then the Friday after that.
What I Didn’t Like:
- I honestly didn’t have any problems with this story. Maybe I found the characters slightly immature at the beginning, but I think it added to the fun of the story. Plus, there’s nothing wrong with being young and naive.
What I Liked:
- How freaking adorable they were together. I was smiling through the whole freaking story, unable to put it down because I was rooting for them so hard. Ney always has me doing that with her novels!
- The evolution of the story. They didn’t just stay on campus like I had assumed they would. There were surprises as the story developed, and I really loved that the progression was positive throughout.
- There was so much steam in this novel. Lots of leading up to the big moments and I definitely enjoyed the anticipation. I knew sparks would fly.
Overall:
Very awesome. I wondered how different the story would be, considering it’s now a different series, but Ney kept to a lot of her talents in this story. Everything I love about her work made it into this novel and it surprised me in many ways as well. Cannot wait for #2 and I’ve already gone back and started Switch Hitter for more!!
Thanks for reading!
